I flew to Egypt to work on my portfolio and learn more about fashion-, editorial- and fine art photography when shooting weddings. One of the designers who provided our photos with such beauty was  Daphne Newman and her sweet daughter Raquelle. Both are from Canada and Daphne designs handmade veils. To be honest, I’ve never given any attention to veils before since I met Daphne and was blown away by her stunning work. She told me she travels the world and looks for patterns and laces on all kinds of markets and little stores everywhere. She sells her veils worldwide. Every bride is unique and so is the veil she creates for the bride. When a bride to be orders a veil, Daphne is in close contact with her finding out what she needs and loves about wearing a veil. I could see when she talks about her veils how proud she is when she sees another beautiful bride is saying yes wearing her with so much love handmade veil. Together with her daughter Raquelle they travel to trade shows, wedding workshops or fashion shows to connect with designers, photographers and event planners in the industry.

It made me so happy to see how much fun Daphne had when we shot her veils in the desert.  She showed me a picture of a photoshoot she once had at the ocean where she wanted the photographer only to take a photo of that one moment  when the wave crashes into the water behind a bride wearing her long white veil standing on a cliff at the ocean. The photo showed everything that Daphne works for. Daphne Newman veils truly love the wind, the water and the adventure of the wedding day.
